Bunnies

Back in May, Bryan found 6, one-day-old, baby bunnies in a nest in our front yard in an area where Bryan was weeding. The next two days after finding them were VERY cold and rainy days. Long story short, Bryan attempted to save the bunnies with space heaters, umbrellas, and tiny baby bottle full of kitten formula. In the end, the bunnies suffocated by inhaling the milk into their lungs.
Even before the bunnies were born and up until now, anytime we come home at night, we always see two bunnies running across our front yard. Kaile knows to look for them. We will turn our high brights on and watch them run. So I was sure these two happy bunnies would forgive us and once again have another litter of bunnies. Well the time came... Bryan this week was watering the front yard when a small, but alot bigger bunny than the last, goes running through the yard. Bryan catches him and brings in inside for Kaile and I to enjoy.

Kaile loved to hold him! She was very careful and held him really still. Elle on the other hand, did all she could to get up close to the bunny. Elle did catch a chance to get a good lick of the bunny!

This is showing how big or should I say little the bunny is in my hand. Also to point out, if you look at her left ear you can see a tiny tick. I gave the bunny to Bryan and went to get the tweezers! Now the bunny was ear tick free! :) He was a very cute bunny. Every time I rubbed his nose, he would lift his ears straight up! When we put him back out, it was raining, but mama bunny did alot better of a job of building a nest this time.

This is the bunnies nest. There were only two bunnies in there. But mama bunny made a nice hole in the pine straw with more of her hair. They were pretty much shielded from the heat and rain. Good job mama bunny! The bunnies are now gone and off to make little bunnies of their own! Hopefully we will get to see another littler of bunnies grow up later in the year!
